PATHFINDERS, Esports competition for League of Legends’ women has begun
Posted : 29 April 2023
A new competition series named PATHFINDERS has been introduced by esports and gaming organization PROJEKT GAP. The tournament will center on women and marginalized communities.
With a semi-franchised model, the series will begin in May 2023 with a League of Legends tournament. The series will feature teams including G2 HEL, BIG Chroma, Galaxy Racer, and QLash Midnight.
According to a press release, the UK-based firm PROJEKT GAP is dedicated to "providing accessibility for players and companies" in video games and esports.
Additionally, the business organizes and creates esports competitions for various video games.
The business is working on a new initiative called PATHFINDERS, which has been hyped for some time.
League of Legends will be the main emphasis of the PATHFINDERS tournament series, and the firm made no announcements on the inclusion of any additional games. In 2023, there will be a minimum of four PATHFINDERS competitions, each with eight teams, six of which will be franchise clubs.
According to the plan, the six teams sign a contract committing them to taking part in the tournament series for at least a year. These teams include BIG Chroma, QLash Midnight, G2 Esports, Vitality French Bees, Team Solary, and Galaxy Racer.
Two qualified teams who must get their spots through open qualifiers will join the six paired teams. The approach will enable contracted organizations to invest more in rosters with the promise of frequent, top-notch competitions, claims PROJEKT GAP.
