Indian gaming and esports media company Nazara has announced a significant investment in the esports fan platform STAN, acquiring a 15.86% stake in the company. The investment amounts to approximately INR 18.4 crore ($2.2 million / £1.68 million) in an all-cash deal. This funding will enable STAN to broaden its influence across India and neighboring regions.
STAN, founded in 2022, serves as a community hub for esports enthusiasts, allowing them to connect and engage with one another. By July 2024, the platform had attracted over 12 million registered users, with more than 500,000 subscribing to its premium services. It also hosts various competitions across multiple esports titles.
Nazara, one of India’s prominent media companies, has been active in expanding its presence in the gaming sector. In 2022, it invested $2.5 million into BITKRAFT Ventures to enhance its market reach. More recently, in 2024, its UK subsidiary acquired the London-based gaming studio Fusebox Games for £21.1 million.
Nitish Mittersain, Founder and CEO of Nazara, highlighted the strategic importance of this investment, emphasizing that STAN’s mobile-focused approach and commitment to community engagement are in line with Nazara’s goals. He believes this partnership will strengthen Nazara's position in the global esports market and support the growth of content creators and the broader gaming community.
