The KeSPA Cup, a prominent off-season Korean League of Legends tournament, is making its return after a three-year break. Organized by Korea's esports governing body, KeSPA, the 2024 edition will feature 12 teams, including all 10 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) organizations, as well as all-star teams from Vietnam and Chinese Taipei.
The tournament is scheduled to run from November 30th to December 8th, with both online and offline play. The opening stage will consist of a group phase where the 12 teams are divided into two groups, each competing in a best-of-one round-robin format. The top four teams from each group will advance to an eight-team Swiss-style stage, which will determine the four finalists for the single-elimination bracket.
The bracket stage will culminate in semi-finals played as best-of-three series, with the grand final being a best-of-five match. These matches will be held at the V.SPACE esports arena in Seoul, which has a seating capacity of 400. The tournament will be streamed in English on YouTube and Naver CHZZK, a new live-streaming platform that launched after Twitch's exit from South Korea.
The KeSPA Cup will offer a prize pool of ₩80 million (approximately £44,300) and is set to feature rosters compiled from teams during the League of Legends free-agency period, which may lead to some teams fielding weakened lineups. Additionally, the tournament aims to transition into a selection process for national team rosters, providing an opportunity to evaluate potential players for future international competitions. Sponsors for the event include SK Telecom, Logitech G, CASS, PowerfulX, and Naver CHZZK.
