PlayVS, the high school esports platform, has announced Jon Chapman as its new CEO, taking over from former CEO Delane Parnell who left the company in May.
Chapman brings with him experience in the education technology (EdTech) sector, having co-founded EverFi, a company that focused on private sector support for education and diversity initiatives.
The appointment of Chapman comes after PlayVS faced criticism and scandals over the past year, including allegations of misleading publishers and excluding existing high school esports providers.
Despite these challenges, PlayVS has raised significant funding, including investments from notable companies such as Adidas, Softbank Innovation Fund, Samsung NEXT, and Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs.
