Hexagon, a German digital solutions company, has teamed up with Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing to launch the Future Skills Challenge, a competition designed to bridge the gap between esports and engineering. The initiative aims to inspire and nurture new talent eager to build skills in digital and engineering fields.
Open to gamers, students, and professionals with an interest in esports, motorsport, and advanced technology, the competition offers participants the chance to engage with puzzles and problem-solving exercises that simulate engineering dynamics.
The challenge emphasizes cognitive skills and engineering problem-solving, mirroring the complexity of the engineering roles in sim racing. Joe Soltysik, Head of Esports at Red Bull Racing, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting how the growing overlap between virtual and real-world engineering in sim racing provides unique career opportunities.
With Hexagon’s involvement, the competition offers a platform for aspiring engineers to gain practical experience in esports, manufacturing, and beyond.
The competition will culminate in a showcase event at the Red Bull Sim Racing Erena in Milton Keynes, where six finalists will receive coaching from Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing drivers and take a behind-the-scenes tour of the F1 team's facilities.
The overall winner will be awarded a €4,000 Fanatec sim racing bundle. This marks a strong start for Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing in 2025, following their success in both the F1 Sim Racing World Championship and the Teams Championship.
