Scandinavian esports organization Heroic has entered a partnership with blockchain and cryptocurrency platform Polkadot, making Polkadot its official blockchain sponsor. Polkadot's branding will adorn Heroic's jerseys and digital platforms, with plans to bring excitement to the esports community through activations, events, and giveaways.
Polkadot, established in 2020, aims to facilitate transactions and create decentralized applications across different blockchains, enabling cross-chain transfers without intermediaries. As Heroic's blockchain partner, Polkadot will collaborate on marketing and business development, joining notable figures like Lionel Messi and Conor Daly on the platform.
This collaboration reflects the ongoing trend of blockchain companies partnering with esports organizations, opening up new opportunities. Notably, Team Liquid partnered with Illuvium in November 2023 to promote blockchain-based auto battler games.
For Heroic, Polkadot marks its fourth partnership and the third secured in 2024, following previous deals with Thunderpick in March and Joma in April. CEO Oliver Valsfaard expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its potential to raise awareness of blockchain technology's possibilities within gaming and esports.
