South Korean esports organization Gen.G and the Saudi Telecom Company (stc) have joined forces to introduce 'Esports Certification Courses' during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Partnering with STC Play, Gen.G aims to enhance the local esports ecosystem by offering educational opportunities throughout the event.
The centerpiece of the programme is an esports coaching certification course scheduled from July 21st to August 1st, designed to equip participants with the skills needed to become esports coaches. Additionally, there will be intensive three-day courses focusing on game training in VALORANT and Rocket League, led by professional coaches to improve participants' in-game skills.
Stc's involvement underscores its substantial investment in esports, highlighted by its role as a naming partner for the Esports World Cup and previous support for the Saudi Esports Federation. This partnership extends technical support to esports events, including predecessor tournaments like Gamers8.
Gen.G, renowned for its educational initiatives such as the Gen.G Global Academy (GGA), is committed to fostering talent and professionals in esports. Recently, Gen.G expanded its educational footprint with the opening of a new GGA building near its headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. On the competitive front, Gen.G has achieved notable successes in VALORANT and League of Legends, winning VCT Masters: Shanghai and the Mid-Season Invitational, respectively, and maintains competitive teams across various gaming titles.
Nicole Minkyung Choi, Gen.G’s MENA Partnerships Lead, emphasized their commitment to supporting the esports ecosystem through education and partnership with STC Play, stating, “Whether aspiring to become certified esports coaches or aiming to compete internationally, Gen.G offers tailored courses to meet these ambitions.”
