Gamers8 Club Awards will provide $5 million in prize money to esports organizations

Posted : 13 June 2023
The Saudi Esports Federation has introduced the Gamers8 Club Awards, a funding initiative designed to reward esports organizations participating in the Gamers8 esports festival.

A total of $5 million (~£4 million) in prize money will be distributed to esports organizations based on their performance across multiple titles during the festival.

This additional reward is in addition to the festival's already impressive prize pool of $45 million (~£38 million), which is divided among various esports tournaments held at the Saudi Esports Federation-operated festival.

The Gamers8 festival features competitions in CS:GO, Dota 2, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, StarCraft 2, Fortnite, and Tekken 7. It will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting on July 6th.

The Gamers8 Club Awards will utilize a points-based system to recognize clubs that participate in multiple tournaments within the Gamers8 festival.

Teams that compete in at least two titles will earn points based on their respective placements. These points will unlock rewards based on the total accumulated throughout the eight-week festival.

The organization that finishes first will receive $1.5 million and 50 points, while the second-place organization will be awarded $1.1 million and 35 points. The rewards scale down to eighth place, which will receive $100,000 and 2 points.

The significance of the points earned by teams and the additional performance-based awards and opportunities they unlock have not been disclosed by the Saudi Esports Federation. Further clarification is being sought from the federation.

The Saudi Esports Federation stated that the Gamers8 Club Awards aim to incentivize investment and foster collaboration among clubs, teams, organizers, and publishers.

The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader mission to invest in the entire esports sector, not just events, and contributes to the country's efforts to cultivate the overall growth of the esports industry.
