G2 Esports Extends Caps' Contract Until 2027

Posted : 11 April 2025

G2 Esports has confirmed the renewal of Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther's contract, ensuring that the Danish mid-laner will continue with the organisation until 2027. This announcement, made through social media, is a significant move for G2, as Caps' contract was set to expire this year, making his extension a priority for the team.

His previous contract was set to end in 2025, but with G2’s commitment to a competitive roster, they have secured one of the best European talents for the long term.

Since joining G2 in 2018 after a stint with Fnatic, Caps has been the face of the organisation's League of Legends team. Known for his exceptional laning phase and carry potential, Caps earned the nickname "European Faker."

Over the course of his career, he has won 12 LEC titles and the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, solidifying his place as one of the most successful players in the LEC. Despite some recent disappointments at the League of Legends World Championship, G2 remains a strong force in the competitive scene, with Caps at the helm.

This contract renewal comes at a pivotal moment for G2 as they head into their 10th anniversary year. The organisation has made significant roster changes for the 2025 season, including replacing key players like Mikyx and Yike with new talent.

G2 is currently leading the 2025 Spring Split with an undefeated record, positioning themselves for another successful season. With Caps’ contract extension and the strategic roster updates, G2 is looking to maintain its dominance in the European esports landscape and continue its global presence in the years to come.
