G1 acquires Evolve PCs to diversify revenue and increase profitability
Posted : 18 June 2023
Gamers First (G1), a North American esports organization, has recently acquired Evolve PCs, a specialized custom PC company. This move is part of G1's strategy to diversify its revenue streams and work towards profitability in the near future. As part of the acquisition, the entire team of six employees from Evolve PCs, along with their branding and inventory, joined G1.
Founded by former NFL player Kenny Vaccaro in late 2021, G1 competes in esports titles such as Halo, Rocket League, and Trackmania. Additionally, G1 acquired the Women's Carball League after its suspension earlier in 2023.
Evolve PCs, established in 2019, is a boutique PC-building company that specializes in gaming PCs.
They offer both standardized configurations and fully customizable PCs. With an annual revenue of approximately $2.5 million, Evolve PCs has demonstrated financial success.
The acquisition is expected to fuel aggressive growth for Evolve, enabling them to establish partnerships with new content creators and develop new products. While specific financial details were not disclosed, Evolve mentioned that substantial resources were involved in the deal.
This acquisition marks a significant step for G1 as it strives for potential profitability.
CEO Kenny Vaccaro expressed his belief that the current financial models in esports are flawed and emphasized G1's commitment to not only fielding competitive teams but also providing complementary products and services to enhance their core business.
