Former Arsenal footballer Nicklas Bendtner has embarked on a new venture by launching an investment and management company focused on esports, named Legendary Gaming Group. This company has already made significant moves by acquiring majority stakes in several esports firms, including New Breed Agency, Legendary Arena, and an unnamed esports and gaming brand. Notably, Legendary Gaming Group has also fully acquired the Danish esports organization, Team Singularity.
Bendtner, widely recognized for his time at Arsenal where he earned the nickname 'Lord Bendtner', is an avid esports enthusiast. He participated in the BLAST Premier Fall showmatch in 2022 representing Team Denmark. Previously, Bendtner had established an esports organization called Prosapia Esports in 2022, although the team has been inactive since 2023. The launch of Legendary Gaming Group marks his renewed commitment to the esports industry, a venture he and his associates have been developing since early 2024.
The acquisition of Team Singularity stands out as a major highlight for Legendary Gaming Group. Atle S. Stehouwer, the Founder and Co-Owner of Team Singularity, confirmed that Legendary Gaming Group now owns 100% of the team. Stehouwer, who acquired full ownership of Team Singularity in October last year, expressed his excitement about finding a suitable home for the organization under Legendary Gaming Group, emphasizing the potential for growth and development.
Joining Bendtner in this new enterprise is CEO and Co-Founder Morten Høj Jensen, the former CEO of Tricked Esport, which ceased operations in 2023. Bendtner expressed his enthusiasm about the team they have assembled at Legendary Gaming Group and his eagerness to play an active role in the company. While his exact title within the organization is yet to be determined, it will be shaped by the roles of other incoming sports profiles.
