Esports Titles Confirmed for 2026 Asian Games

Posted : 21 February 2025

The Olympic Council of Asia has confirmed the esports titles that will be featured in the 2026 Nachi-Nagoya Asian Games, covering a range of genres including MOBA, sim racing, and battle royale.

A total of eleven games, such as Street Fighter 6, League of Legends, PUBG, and Gran Turismo 7, will be part of the competition, with players from across Asia vying for official medals.

The selection was made by a dedicated task force aiming to ensure a diverse representation of gaming categories.

The 2023 Asian Games marked the first time esports was officially included as a medal event, featuring titles like Dota 2, EA Sports FC, and Arena of Valor.

However, for 2026, these games have been replaced by eFootball, Honor of Kings, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, NARAKA: Bladepoint, and Puyo Puyo Champions.

Esports Charts data highlighted the growing popularity of the event, with League of Legends and Dota 2 reaching peak viewership figures of 146,000 and 78,000, respectively, excluding Chinese audiences.

The 2026 Asian Games will take place in Japan’s Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture in September and October, with the Asian Electronic Sports Federation overseeing the esports competitions.

The involvement of esports in major sporting events continues to expand, with the International Olympic Committee set to launch the Olympic Esports Games in collaboration with the Esports World Cup Foundation.

Initially planned for 2025, the event was recently postponed to 2027, reflecting the growing integration of esports into the global sports landscape.
