Esports marketing agency Hurrah.agency shuts down after eight years

Posted : 23 July 2023
Hurrah.agency, an esports and gaming creative marketing agency, has made the difficult decision to cease its operations after eight years of operation. The agency's holding structure, Hurrah.group, will also stop its activities later this year. However, the media buying arm, hurrah.media, and the production company, Hurrah.studio, will continue their operations.

Mathieu Lacrouts, Global CEO of Hurrah.group, announced the news through a LinkedIn statement, citing cash-related issues as the primary reason for the agency's closure. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the esports industry over the past year and explained that the agency lacked the necessary cash flow to withstand another crisis after the impact of COVID-19.

Hurrah.agency had previously worked with prominent stakeholders in the esports and gaming space, including game developers like Ubisoft, Riot Games, and Paradox Interactive, as well as non-endemic brands like Renault, Coca Cola, and Domino's.

Despite the closure of the marketing agency, Lacrouts will continue his roles at Hurrah's other divisions. However, it remains unclear whether these divisions will operate independently, as the holding structure is set to close down.

Hurrah.agency is one of the latest casualties in the esports and gaming industry during the so-called 'esports winter,' joining other organizations like Gfinity, Copenhagen Flames, and eUnited.

Hurrah was co-founded by Angela Natividad, who left the company in January 2020. Lacrouts expressed his hesitation in sharing the news but felt it was essential to inform the people he encountered during the agency's eight-year journey that this chapter has come to an end.
