Esports Awards has formed a partnership with professional golf tour LIV Golf, leading to the hosting of the third Esports Awards Open golf competition by LIV Golf. The collaboration will extend to creating additional events that showcase the 2023 ceremony.
The Esports Awards Open, powered by LIV Golf, is scheduled to take place at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort and will feature a mix of esports players, influencers, and professional golfers, including Bryson DeChambeau, the 2020 US Open champion.
LIV Golf, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund since its establishment in 2021, has faced criticism similar to Saudi Arabia's esports industry expansion, with concerns about sportswashing to mask human rights issues. LIV Tour is currently in discussions about a potential merger with PGA Tour.
As the ninth partner of the 2023 Esports Awards, LIV Golf joins other sponsors such as Lexus, XIX Vodka, Oakley, and Xfinity. Alongside the partnership, the Esports Awards has named Alex ‘Goldenboy’ Mendez and Miles Ross as hosts for the upcoming ceremony in Las Vegas.
The Esports Awards, designed to honor outstanding individuals and entities in the esports industry, covers players, organizations, teams, and various figures. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on November 29th and 30th.
Michael Ashford, CEO of the Esports Awards, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, aiming to bring together sports stars, celebrities, and gaming professionals for memorable experiences during the ceremony and the Esports Awards Open.
