Posted : 22 September 2023
ESL, the prominent esports tournament operator, has revealed its plans for the 2024 ESL Pro Tour Counter-Strike program, introducing various changes and exciting events.
The upcoming ESL Pro Tour will feature the return of IEM China, marking the first IEM event in China since 2019. IEM Cologne and IEM Katowice, two of the most renowned CS tournaments globally, will also make a comeback in 2024. IEM Katowice is scheduled for early February, while IEM Cologne will take place in mid-August.
Together, these events constitute the ESL Pro Tour Championship, complemented by several smaller tournaments from the IEM series forming the ESL Pro Tour Masters. Additionally, IEM Dallas is set to occur in late May and early June in Dallas, Texas, and another IEM series tournament will be held from October 7th to 13th.
The ESL Pro League, ESL's premier competitive partner league, is making a return as well. However, there will be a change in format, with the two seasons shortened to three weeks each. Despite this adjustment, the structure and team participation numbers will remain consistent, and both groups will be played simultaneously. Malta will continue to host the Pro League.
In another exciting development, the ESL Pro Tour Challenger tournaments will serve as the next step beyond FACEIT and ESEA matchmaking, allowing teams to compete in LAN events.
The ESL Challenger League is expanding its reach by adding South America, Australia, and New Zealand to its list of regions. The year 2024 will see ESL Challenger League Seasons 47 and 48 taking place in February and June, as well as July and November.
Four ESL Challenger tournaments are scheduled, featuring LAN events in various regions. The location for the April tournament is yet to be announced, June will host the Challenger in Europe, October will bring teams to Atlanta, Georgia, as part of DreamHack Atlanta 2024, and November's edition will return to Europe, offering an exciting year of competition in the ESL Pro Tour Counter-Strike program.
