ESL Pro League season 18 records strong viewership boost in farewell to CS:GO

Posted : 04 October 2023

The 18th season of the ESL Pro League, a long-standing Counter-Strike league, experienced an improvement in viewership compared to previous seasons. This season concluded in Malta and featured an $850,000 prize pool. It became the third most-watched edition of the Pro League with a peak viewership of 567,000, according to Esports Charts.

While this season saw a boost in peak viewers, the average viewership decreased to 114,000, down from 161,000 and 138,000 in seasons 16 and 17, respectively. Two key factors contributed to the increased peak viewership. MOUZ and NAVI were the most popular teams, with their Grand Final match being the most-watched of the season. Additionally, this marked the final edition of the ESL Pro League featuring CS:GO, as Counter-Strike 2 was set to release, making this season a significant moment in the game's history.

It's worth noting that only two previous ESL Pro League events had higher viewership numbers: Season 12 and Season 14. The top three most-watched finals in ESL Pro League history all included the Ukrainian esports organization NAVI.
