Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota has made an investment in the multinational esports organization Galaxy Racer. As a result, his own esports organization, Diogo Jota Esports, will undergo a rebranding and be known as Luna Galaxy, falling under the Galaxy Racer umbrella.
Jota, who currently plays for Liverpool, becomes a shareholder of Galaxy Racer and will play a key role in shaping the organization's esports strategy, which now includes hosting various tournaments across multiple gaming titles.
Luna Galaxy will be competing in Dota 2, Rocket League, and FIFA, with their recent participation in the FIFA competitive season at the Gamers8 event in Saudi Arabia. In the FIFAe Finals, Daniel 'DFernandes' Fernandes, representing Diogo Jota Esports, achieved a top 16 finish.
Notably, Galaxy Racer is currently undergoing a significant merger with Riva Technology and Entertainment (RTE), as the digital media entertainment company intends to acquire the organization.
Upon the completion of the deal, Galaxy Racer will be rebranded as Celestial, aiming to expand and establish a media and sports conglomerate with a focus on the MENA region and India.
Jota expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that he is thrilled to join forces with Galaxy Racer and venture into the world of esports.
He believes that esports, much like football, has the potential to captivate millions worldwide, and through this collaboration, he hopes to introduce Luna Galaxy to a broader audience of gamers and sports enthusiasts.
