Despite the low finals statistic, MSI 2023 beats the viewing record
Posted : 23 May 2023
The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) for League of Legends wrapped off last weekend in London and broke all previous attendance records.
The MSI version that received the most attention to date had a high viewing of little under 2.3 million, according to Esports Charts.
This year's MSI earned a slightly higher peak viewership than previous year's MSI, which is currently the second most popular edition—2.3m as opposed to 2.2m. However, the League of Legends competition's average viewership increased from 588,000 in 2022 to approximately 800,000.
In addition to including more teams from the ecosystem's "main" areas, including Europe, North America, China, and Korea, MSI introduced a double elimination structure this year for the first time.
The fact that Esports Charts does not contain information from Chinese streaming services must be addressed. Due to the fact that two Chinese teams competed in the grand final, the statistic may not accurately reflect the situation.
