British Esports Extends Partnership with Sunderland College to Foster Esports Talent

British Esports has renewed its partnership with Sunderland College, aiming to nurture future talent and bolster the city's status as a global esports hub, much like their initial collaboration in 2022. This extended partnership focuses on providing young adults with opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, and qualifications essential for launching careers in esports.

 

Central to this renewed agreement is the provision of esports courses at the National Esports Performance Campus (NEPC) in Sunderland. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities including esports classrooms, performance rooms, streaming booths, and the capacity to host esports events and community tournaments. It serves as a focal point for educational and practical experiences in the esports industry.

 

Students will benefit from programs like the Young Learners Esports Career Skills Programme, designed for players aged 12-17, held at NEPC during summer. Sunderland College itself boasts a strong esports foundation, fielding its own team, the Sunderland Seers, and offering diplomas based at NEPC such as the one-year Level 2 Esports Diploma and the two-year Level 3 Esports Extended Diploma. Starting September 2024, students can also enroll in the Level 4 Higher Nationals in Esports.

 

British Esports, active in forging alliances this year, recently partnered with BLAST ahead of the BLAST Premier Spring Final in London. Toni Rhodes, Deputy CEO at Education Partnership North East, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the collaboration, emphasizing its role in preparing students for dynamic careers in esports and other digital industries. The partnership aims to pioneer new opportunities and pathways for youth advancement in Sunderland and beyond.
