Boston Breach to Host 2024 Call of Duty League Major Tournament in Boston

Posted : 08 November 2023
Oxygen Esports, an esports organization based in New England, has announced that their Call of Duty League franchise, Boston Breach, will host the first Major tournament in the 2024 season. This event is scheduled to take place at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, MA, from January 24th to 28th, 2024.

Notably, this is the second time in two years that Boston Breach has been selected to host a CoD League Major tournament, having previously hosted the second Major of the 2023 season.

Oxygen Esports has partnered with Live Nation, a well-known events company, to organize this forthcoming tournament, and they anticipate approximately 15,000 attendees over the weekend, making it the largest LAN tournament of the 2024 CDL season.

In addition to the Call of Duty League Major 1, Boston Breach will also oversee the Call of Duty Challengers tournament, featuring 96 teams from around the world competing for a prize pool of $75,000 (~£60,500).

It's worth noting that the Challengers tournament will be held at the Citizen’s House of Blues Boston, separate from the MGM Music Hall.

Owned by Oxygen Esports, Boston Breach shares its parent organization with Boston Uprising in the Overwatch League, and Oxygen Esports manages teams in VALORANT, Rocket League, and Rainbow Six.

This collaboration came to fruition in 2021 when the company merged with Boston Uprising and secured a Call of Duty League slot that became available after the merger of OpTic Gaming and Envy Gaming.

Boston Breach's most notable achievement thus far has been securing third place at the CoD League 2022 Stage 2 Major.

Murph Vandervelde, President and Co-Founder of Oxygen Esports, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "Oxygen Esports and the Boston Breach have established Boston as a destination for esports, and this tournament fortifies our position in this ever-growing industry.

Being the largest esports event that has ever been hosted in Boston, diehard fans and those curious about the world of professional esports can expect a weekend full of excitement and unique experiences."
