Esports tournament organizers BLAST and PGL have both scheduled major Counter-Strike 2 events for 2027, with each tournament taking place simultaneously. BLAST’s event, known as BLAST Bounty, will run from January 13th to 24th, 2027, while PGL’s unnamed competition is set to conclude on January 25th of the same year. Despite the confirmed dates, further specifics about both tournaments remain undisclosed.
The announcement of these events comes in accordance with Valve's new ruling, which mandates that organizers must announce tournaments two years in advance to ensure stability for the Counter-Strike 2 event calendar. This new policy has already helped avoid direct scheduling conflicts for the 2025 season, but in 2027, teams may face a difficult decision on which tournament to participate in.
In addition to their 2027 events, both BLAST and PGL have laid out their plans for upcoming Counter-Strike 2 competitions in 2025 and 2026. BLAST is set to host six events in 2025, while PGL will organize four tournaments. Both organizations have a long history of hosting high-profile Counter-Strike tournaments, including Valve-sanctioned Majors, and are well-established in the competitive scene.
BLAST will kick off its 2025 season with the first BLAST Bounty on January 13th, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark. PGL’s first event of 2025 will be the PGL Cluj-Napoca tournament in February, where 16 teams will compete for a $1.25 million prize pool. The tournament will also take place in various other cities, including Bucharest, Astana, and Belgrade. The scheduling clash in 2027 could give lower-ranked teams the chance to participate in high-profile events they may not typically have access to.
