The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) 2023 Split 2 Playoffs achieved a peak viewership of 578,000 and an average audience of 236,000 viewers, with over 10 million hours watched. The event, held in London, introduced a new format that featured all Group Stage matches on broadcast, giving teams more visibility and reach.
ALGS Commissioner John Nelson explained that the format change aimed to increase team exposure and allow them to sell merchandise on-site.
DarkZero Esports, a North American esports organization with an Australian-majority roster, emerged as the winners of the Split 2 Playoffs, securing the first-place prize of $300,000 from the $1 million prize pool.
While this year's Playoffs showed growth compared to the Split 1 Playoffs, it didn't surpass the peak viewership of last year's event, which reached 677,000 viewers with an average of 286,000.
The Split 2 Playoffs featured notable brand sponsors such as Monster Energy and WD Black, both of which had in-person activations and branding at the event.
ALGS Brand Marketing Manager Jasmine Chiang highlighted the importance of engaging directly with fans through in-person experiences and expressed the organization's commitment to improving the event experience in collaboration with their partners.
