AESF, CSIC sign memorandum for esports development at 19th Asian Games
Posted : 04 August 2023
The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) and the China Sports Information Center (CSIC) have recently signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on esports development, with a particular focus on the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
The memorandum aims to address four key areas ahead of the event. Firstly, the two organizations will work together to develop standard esports competition regulations and guidelines for the Hangzhou Asian Games. These regulations will help regulate the esports section of the event.
Secondly, a task force will be created, consisting of representatives from the AESF, the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, and Host Broadcasters. This task force will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the esports activities during the Games.
Thirdly, a national esports technical officer workshop will be held prior to the event, aimed at enhancing the technical expertise and knowledge of esports professionals in China.
Lastly, the partnership will also focus on further developing esports education in China, promoting its growth and accessibility in the country.
Both parties emphasized the significance of the memorandum in fostering cooperation and collaboration between them. They believe that their joint efforts will contribute to the success and advancement of esports at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and in China in general.
It's worth noting that the Olympic Council of Asia has recently announced the inclusion of esports in the 2026 edition of the Asian Games. However, Hearthstone has been removed from the roster of games available in this year's edition. Instead, Arena of Valor (Asian Games Version), Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, FIFA, League of Legends, PUBG Mobile (Asian Games Version), and Street Fighter V will be featured as medal events.
