Judd Trump had more than one reason to smile recently, and it’s likely his bank manager was just as pleased. The world number one celebrated a major milestone by recording his 100th century break of the 2024/25 season, earning himself a £100,000 bonus from the World Snooker Tour. Meanwhile, it has been officially announced that Oleksandr Usyk and Britain’s Daniel Dubois will meet at Wembley Stadium on July 19 for the undisputed world heavyweight title.
The two fighters previously clashed in Poland in 2023, where Usyk emerged victorious, stopping Dubois in the ninth round to retain his WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts. That bout stirred controversy, but Usyk’s triumph stood. The Ukrainian went on to defeat Tyson Fury, becoming the first fighter to unify the heavyweight division under the four-belt system. Afterward, he vacated the IBF title, paving the way for Dubois to be promoted to champion — a title he successfully defended by knocking out Anthony Joshua.
Now, Dubois is eager to set the record straight. Speaking to the BBC, he expressed his determination to avenge his earlier defeat. "This is the fight I wanted and demanded," Dubois said. "I should have won the first bout but circumstances went against me. I’m not leaving anything to chance this time, especially fighting at home in front of my people."
Dubois believes he has grown into a more formidable fighter since their first meeting. “I'm stronger, sharper, and more dangerous now,” he stated confidently. “Usyk will soon realize that he is facing a completely different fighter than the one he encountered before.” At present, Dubois holds the IBF heavyweight belt, while Usyk retains the WBA, WBO, and WBC titles.
Earlier this year, Dubois was scheduled to defend his IBF crown against Joseph Parker but had to pull out due to illness. Despite that setback, he remained focused on securing a rematch with Usyk, who has continued to dominate the heavyweight scene with his exceptional skills and resilience.
Usyk, on his part, showed appreciation but remained focused on the task ahead. He acknowledged Dubois for holding onto the IBF belt, adding, "I thank God for the chance to fight for the undisputed title once again. And thank you, Daniel, for keeping my belt safe — but now, I’m coming to take it back."
The upcoming showdown at Wembley promises fireworks, with both men carrying unfinished business into the ring. For Dubois, it is a chance at redemption; for Usyk, it is an opportunity to reassert his supremacy and once again unify the heavyweight division.
