UFC 296: Ian Machado Garry out due to pneumonia, Dana White confirms

Dana White confirmed on social media that Ian Machado Garry is out of his UFC 296 fight against Vicente Luque due to contracting pneumonia, disrupting the Irishman's upward trajectory in the sport.

The UFC CEO addressed the situation in a video, stating, "Ian Garry started with the flu that turned into pneumonia," and confirming the fight's cancellation. 


Rumors began when Machado Garry missed a media day, and it was later revealed that he withdrew due to pneumonia. 


The replacement fight on the main card is yet to be announced. This setback is a significant blow to Garry's aspirations of becoming a welterweight title contender. 


UFC 296 will be headlined by the welterweight championship fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington.
