The highly anticipated bout between Mike Tyson and Tommy Paul has been postponed from its original July 20 date due to Tyson's medical condition, as announced on Friday night. The 57-year-old former world boxing champion experienced nausea and dizziness during a flight on Monday, following a recent ulcer.
Tyson shared, "The doctor advised me to reduce the training load for several weeks, to rest and recover. My body is in the best condition it has been in since the 90s, and I will return to a full training schedule soon." He also had a message for his opponent: "Jake Paul, this may give you a little more time, but in the end, you will be knocked out of boxing for good."
In response, the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer expressed his support for postponing the fight, stating, "I fully support postponing the fight so that Mike Tyson does not have excuses. My fans know that I only want to face 'Iron Mike' when he is at his peak, but make no mistake - when he enters the ring with me, I will be ready to get the win in a sensational way. The Paul vs. Tyson fight will be one that will be remembered for generations, and I promise to bring my best."
Tyson's team announced that a new date for the fight will be set on June 7. The match will take place at AT&T Stadium in Texas and will be broadcast live on Netflix.
