Taylor to make emphatic statement in WBO super-lightweight fight

Josh Taylor intends to dominate Teofimo Lopez, and he believes a knockout victory will occur early in the contest.
 
This weekend, Lopez will fight Taylor, the former unquestioned super-lightweight champion who was unbeaten in the ring.
 
In their bout for the WBO 140-pound belt, Taylor thinks he can halt Lopez in the opening rounds.
 
"The way I think he's going to fight, we'll put him out of there early," Taylor told Sky Sports. "But if it goes the other way, which I think it might do as well, it'll be a boxing match, a clever boxing match but nothing that I'm going to be surprised with.
 
"I've watched him quite a bit in the lead up to this fight and I think I know what I'm expecting. But whatever he brings, I'm more than ready for.
 
That would be a forceful declaration against a competitor who defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko to become the lightweight division's three-belt unified champion.
 
That outcome would reaffirm Taylor's status as one of the most dominant champions in the current sport.
