Radoslav Rosenov, a highly talented multiple-time European champion and Olympian from Bulgaria, was named the best male boxer at the EUBC U23 European Boxing Championships held in Sofia from October 10 to 20. Throughout the competition, Rosenov demonstrated his skill and dominance, achieving five impressive victories, all by unanimous decision. However, his compatriot William Chollov, competing in the 75 kg weight category, fell short in the final against Dzhamal Kuliev from Ukraine.
The Ukrainian men's team showcased remarkable prowess at the championships, emerging as the most successful squad with six finalists and securing five gold medals. Among the champions were Danyl Zamorylo (63.5 kg), Danylo Lozan (67 kg), Yurii Zakhariev (71 kg), Dzhamal Kuliev (75 kg), and Vasyl Thachuk (+92 kg). Their strong performance underscored Ukraine's dominance in the tournament.
Ireland finished in second place with two champions and three bronze medalists. Louis Rooney (48 kg) and Patsy Joyce Thady (54 kg) both triumphed over their opponents by split decision, earning the title of European champions. Their contributions were crucial in establishing Ireland's presence on the medal table.
Armenia secured third place in the men’s competition, fielding four boxers in the finals, but only Rudolf Garboyan managed to clinch a victory, competing in the 51 kg weight category. In addition to Rosenov and the other gold medal winners from Ukraine, Ireland, and Armenia, European champions were also crowned, including Gor Ayvazyan from Georgia (57 kg), Cesar Yojerlin from France (80 kg), Teagn Stott from England (86 kg), and Yasar Emrah from Turkey (92 kg).
