All is set for Week 5 of the Yucateco Boxing League Season 2 in the heart of Osun State's capital, Osogbo, today.
The event, scheduled for Friday, September 6th, at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, will feature 48 boxers in 24 bouts.
The second season of the widely followed boxing league, which began in Lagos in August, has already completed over one hundred bouts after four exciting weeks of action.
As the YBL train moves from Lagos to Osun State for Week 5, the initiator of the event and Chairman/CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions, Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, has called on residents of Osogbo and its environs to turn out in large numbers and enjoy the best of amateur boxing along with other attractions.
“At Yucateco, we don’t compromise our standards, so the people of Osogbo should expect the very best in terms of packaging and delivery from the boxers,” Imadu said.
“Those who have followed our events over time will also attest that, aside from boxing, there are plenty of music and dance performances.”
“Fast-rising music artist ‘Fear God’ will headline the performances on the night, so everyone needs to be at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo to experience the glamour first-hand.”
Boxers participating in the league receive weekly allowances as well as other incentives.
The most valuable boxer in each weight category will also receive N2 million at the end of the season.
Twelve boxing clubs are competing for the grand prize of N50 million in Season 2 of the Yucateco Boxing League.
