The organizers of the previously scheduled WBF World Title Fight in Port Harcourt, Zeus Sports and Entertainment, have apologized to the general public for the postponement of the event, initially slated for last month, citing multiple reasons.
In a statement by the CEO, Emmanuel Emenogu, Zeus Sports attributed the postponement to injuries sustained by some main-event fighters, visa delays affecting boxers and guests arriving from various parts of the world, and other logistical challenges. These factors led to the "difficult" decision to reschedule the fight.
Addressing the delay in announcing the postponement, Zeus Sports explained that they initially believed the challenges could be resolved in time for the event to proceed as planned. However, the obstacles turned out to be more significant than anticipated.
The statement also confirmed that the event will still take place, with the addition of two more title belts: the WBF Heavyweight African Title and the IBO Intercontinental Title. A new date and venue will be communicated soon.
