Nina Hughes Makes Record in the Boxing World, Became a Champion in Five Fights
Posted : 17 April 2023
In the field of women's boxing, Nina Hughe has attained the highest position.
With just five professional fights under her belt, she defeated Jamie Mitchell in Dubai in November of last year to win the WBA bantamweight title.
Hughes, a 41-year-old mother of two, is even more astounding given that she continues to work a part-time secretarial job to support her young children.
"It's crazy," She said "Five fights and I become world champion, it has happened all so quickly."
But it doesn't happen quite as swiftly as it might seem. Hughes has been a professional boxer for almost 15 years. Several people have written her off, including herself.
At the age of 25, Hughes, who is from Grays in Essex, started taking boxing classes. She had no desire to engage in competitive combat.
But, Hughes started an amateur career that was so successful that earned her a spot in the British squad once she switched her training to a women's club and realized her potential. She traveled extensively for competitions.
