Nina Hughes becomes WBA bantamweight champion in just five fights

Nina Hughes' journey to the top of women's boxing has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Despite being a 41-year-old mother of two and working a part-time secretarial job, Hughes became the WBA bantamweight champion in just her fifth professional fight by defeating Jamie Mitchell in Dubai.
"It's crazy," she says.
"Five fights and I become world champion, it has happened all so quickly."
"I was purely enjoying the fitness, but I got talked into it by my coach," she says.
"So I started sparring, then he said 'you're ready to box'.
Her rapid ascent continued as she signed with Matchroom Boxing, one of the leading promotions in the country, and prepares to defend her title against Katie Healey in London.
However, Hughes' path to success has been marked by years of dedication and overcoming self-doubt, having initially started with boxercise classes at the age of 25 without any intentions of pursuing competitive boxing.
