Nigerian entrepreneur, Emeka Agba plans to establish boxing promotion company in Lagos

Entrepreneur Chief Emeka Agba is set to make a significant impact on Nigerian professional boxing as he ventures into the world of boxing promotion. He has established Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions, a subsidiary of the Chief Emeka Agba Foundation, with a mission to promote Nigerian fighters to attain the status of world champions.
As an initial step towards this goal, Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions is preparing to organize a boxing championship event at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, scheduled for November 11. The championship, known as "Ring Matardos," has received approval from the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) and promises to showcase some thrilling bouts.
The main event of this championship will feature a cruiserweight challenge match between Muritador Monyashau and Godwin Ambrose. Additionally, fans can anticipate a national super welterweight clash between Henry Abolokeji and Segun Afikun, a national lightweight challenge match between Muyideen ljalo and Hammed Adedokun, and a national light welterweight challenge bout between Lucky Oyibo and Ibrahim Shobusi. Ezekiel Etukeren will face Sunday Igiebor in another national lightweight bout, while Dimeji Salami's opponent in the national super middleweight challenge contest will be announced soon.
Remi Aboderin, the Secretary General of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), expressed confidence in the preparations made by Emeka Agba Boxing Promotions for this championship. He assured fans that they would be treated to top-notch professional boxing action.
Aboderin praised Emeka Agba for entering the world of boxing promotion, emphasizing the positive impact this would have on Nigerian boxers. He believes it will provide them with more opportunities for regular fights, improved rankings, and career progression.
“The boxers we have lined up are worthy fighters who will give fans value for their money. It will also enable the boxers to get more experience and exposure in their quest to progress further in the paid ranks.
” I must commend Emeka Agba Promotions for joining the list of boxing promoters in the country which will help in giving our boxers hope and greater opportunity to have regular fights and be in a position to get good rankings and progress further in the profession.
” It’s equally a thing of joy that we’re now having many promoters coming around to invest in professional boxing which is evidence of the transformation the NBB of C is bringing to bear on the sports”, he stressed.
Furthermore, Aboderin revealed that the championship would serve as a celebration of Emeka Agba's birthday, highlighting his deep passion for the sport of boxing.
