MLB has given Mets ace Max Scherzer a 10-game suspension

Major League Baseball on Thursday handed a 10-game suspension to Mets pitcher Max Scherzer after he was ejected from a game for having an object in his hand.
Scherzer originally challenged the ban but subsequently withdrew it. According to a person familiar with talks between MLB and the players' union, his sanction was dropped from $10,000 to $5,000 in return. Due to the fact that the arrangement hadn't been made public, the individual talked to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.
The Mets pushed Scherzer to accept the suspension, and he added that it was the wisest course of action for the club just before New York's game at San Francisco.
"I went through the appeal process. Looked at what that appeal process was going to look like. I thought I was going to get in front of a neutral arbitrator, but I wasn't. It was going to be through MLB. Given that process I wasn't going to come out on top," Scherzer said.
“"I'm going to follow what the Mets wanted me to do and that was to accept the suspension and come to a settlement."
MLB's senior vice president for on-field operations, Michael Hill, issued the appeal and punishment. Since the campaign against adhesive substances began in June 2021, Scherzer is the third pitcher to get a suspension. Both Héctor Santiago of Seattle and Caleb Smith of Arizona received 10-game suspensions after being punished on June 28 and August 24, respectively.
