In a mainstream film on boxer's life, Letitia Wright will play Ramla Ali

One of Hollywood's top actresses has been chosen to play the Somali British boxer Ramla Ali in the film adaptation of her life.
 
Letitia Wright has agreed to play Ali in the biographical drama "In The Shadows," which is based on Ali's life and depicts the tale of her family's flight from Somalia to London and her subsequent career as a boxer — during which she spent years hiding from her family.
 
 
Ali represented Somalia in the Olympics for the first time, male or female, at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
 
Years of planning went into the movie, according to Ali, who said that it didn't seem like it would ever be created until Wright contacted her at an Alexander McQueen fashion show in London last year after hearing a podcast about her life. After finding out that a movie was being created, Wright showed interest in playing Ali.
