Frank Warren, Tyson Fury's promoter, is confident that his fighter will "steal the show" in the highly anticipated rematch against Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday. Warren believes Fury should have been the victor in their first meeting and that he is now more focused and prepared to win the unified heavyweight titles in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The rematch will be held in Riyadh, where Fury aims to secure the championship, following his split-decision loss to Usyk in May. While Fury controlled the early stages of the fight, Usyk managed to adjust later, almost knocking Fury out in the ninth round. Despite this, Fury remained on his feet, and Warren has urged him to make key adjustments for their second encounter.
Warren suggested that Fury should focus on using his jab more consistently throughout the fight. He believes that when Fury relies on his jab, everything else in his game flows more naturally. Warren also emphasized the importance of body shots, as Fury can exploit Usyk’s vulnerabilities in this area, as seen in Daniel Dubois' success against Usyk. Fury's uppercuts, which have previously troubled Usyk, should also be more frequent in the rematch.
Though Usyk defeated Dubois in their encounter, Fury’s team believes body shots were effective against the Ukrainian. Warren recalled how Fury immediately demanded a rematch after his loss in May, despite his initial belief that he had won the fight. Fury’s focus and drive have been unwavering since that loss, with the fighter determined to set things right in the rematch.
Fury has approached this camp with a different mindset, tightening his team and minimizing distractions. Warren shared that Fury has been intensely focused on beating Usyk, even distancing himself from his wife and family to maintain concentration. This commitment has been evident in his physical and mental preparations, with Warren expressing confidence in Fury’s readiness.
Warren noted that Fury has been in peak condition for the rematch, overcoming previous challenges such as a cut in sparring and personal issues leading up to the first fight. He expects Fury to deliver an exceptional performance, as the fighter has worked tirelessly to ensure nothing will hinder his goal of defeating Usyk.
Both fighters have shared 12 rounds of intense combat, and Warren believes that while Usyk is a professional and fully prepared for the rematch, the key question will be who has been more affected by their first brutal encounter. Warren is confident that Fury has learned from their previous fight and will make the necessary adjustments to emerge victorious in the second title bout.
