Francis Ngannou secures 10th Spot in WBC heavyweight rankings after impressive bout against Tyson Fury

Following his bout against Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou has secured the 10th spot in the WBC heavyweight rankings. Despite narrowly losing to Fury, Ngannou's impressive performance earned him recognition from the WBC. Deontay Wilder is ranked as the number one contender, with Anthony Joshua coming in at second place. The WBC, as a sanctioning body, maintains its own set of world rankings, distinct from those of IBF, WBO, and WBA.
 
The WBC clarified that a mandatory challenger for Fury's title would not be determined until the next year. Fury is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight contest in February, vying for the undisputed championship. This bout marks a historic moment, as two undefeated fighters compete for the undisputed heavyweight title for the first time since 1999. Ngannou, the former UFC champion, expressed his commitment to his boxing career and is rumored to be considering matchups against former champions like Joshua and Wilder.
 
Despite potential matchups with Ngannou on the horizon, Joshua and Wilder are scheduled to fight separate opponents on December 23 in Saudi Arabia. The two rivals may face each other in 2024 after their individual bouts. Ngannou's transition to boxing has generated significant interest in the combat sports world, and his ranking by the WBC adds further intrigue to potential future matchups in the heavyweight division.
