Prominent boxer Tyson Fury has identified Dennis 'The Menace' McCann, a traveller boxer, as a future world champion. McCann, aged 22, will have his first headline appearance when he faces Romanian Ionut Baluta at London's York Hall on August 18th.
The bout will be for the vacant WBO intercontinental super bantamweight title. With 14 wins under his belt, McCann aims to secure his 15th victory, and promoter Frank Warren anticipates an impressive performance from the young fighter.
Warren believes that McCann's upcoming fight against Ionut Baluta could serve as a crucial moment in his career, as Baluta has triumphed against numerous high-level opponents. It will be McCann's fourth consecutive title fight, and a win over Baluta would bring him closer to contention for a world title.
Having maintained an undefeated record throughout his professional career, McCann is determined to continue his winning streak. His opponent, 29-year-old Baluta, holds a record of 16 wins and 4 losses. Baluta's recent fights have resulted in two victories and two losses, including a split decision win against previously unbeaten Englishman Andrew Cain.
The event at York Hall will also feature other notable bouts, including featherweight Raven Chapman in action and a British and Commonwealth featherweight title fight between champion Nathaniel Collins and Raza Hamza.
