Posted : 03 May 2023
According to a statement made on behalf of Peach Boxing, New Zealand fighter David Light is undergoing treatment in an Auckland hospital for a "mild stroke."
Following his March 25 match in Manchester against Lawrence Okolie for the WBO cruiserweight title, Light is rumored to have become ill upon arriving in New Zealand.
According to the statement, "David reported no ill effects in the aftermath of the bout". Having returned home on April 1, Light first began feeling unwell on April 5 and sought medical attention.
A first CT scan revealed nothing. After receiving a delayed concussion diagnosis, he was released.
But on April 17, Light was admitted to Waitakere Hospital due to persistent symptoms.
That evening, Light had surgery after experiencing a "mild stroke".
