Conor Benn vs. Chris Eubank fight targeted for December 23 in Cardiff, pending UK license approval
Posted : 10 October 2023
Promoter Eddie Hearn is determined to make the Conor Benn-Chris Eubank fight happen on December 23 in Cardiff, despite Benn currently not having a UK fighting license. The fight was initially scheduled a year ago but was canceled due to Benn's doping test failures.
Hearn, who also promotes Anthony Joshua, is considering having Joshua on the same bill, although a fight with Deontay Wilder is not confirmed. The preferred venue for the fight is Cardiff's Principality Stadium, but it may go international if the UK authorities don't grant Benn a license.
Conor Benn, 27, has consistently maintained his innocence regarding intentional doping. While his provisional suspension was lifted by the independent National Anti-Doping Panel in July, UK Anti-Doping and the British Boxing Board of Control are appealing this decision.
Hearn is working closely with Kalle Sauerland, Eubank's promoter, to organize what is expected to be a significant event on December 23. Both camps are eager to see the Benn/Eubank fight become a reality, but the UK authorities will ultimately determine if Benn can fight in the country.
