Chantelle Cameron calls for 12-Round rematch against Katie Taylor

Posted : 08 September 2023
Chantelle Cameron, the undisputed super-lightweight champion, is advocating for her rematch with Katie Taylor in November to be extended to a 12-round contest. Traditionally, women's boxing matches consist of a maximum of 10 rounds lasting two minutes each. However, Amanda Serrano, the undisputed featherweight champion, recently announced her upcoming fight against Danila Ramos, which will feature 12 rounds lasting three minutes each.

Cameron, aged 32, secured a points victory over the previously unbeaten Taylor in Dublin in May. She is set to defend her four titles once again at the 3Arena in Dublin on Saturday, November 25th. Despite her initial disappointment that the rematch would not involve a challenge for Taylor's belts, Cameron has now proposed extending the fight duration.

Taking to social media, Cameron suggested, "Throwing it out there after seeing that announcement Serrano v Ramos fighting 12x3 minute rounds. I say me v KT [Katie Taylor] should follow that and fight three-minute rounds for the rematch."

Cameron boasts an undefeated record in 18 professional matches and holds the distinction of being England's first undisputed champion in the four-belt era. Taylor, on the other hand, suffered her first majority decision loss in May, marking her first defeat since the 2016 Rio Olympics and her first loss in 22 professional fights.
