Boxer Ben Whittaker's Viral Victory Video Leads to Social Media Surge

Ben Whittaker, a light-heavyweight boxer, experienced a surge in popularity on social media following his stoppage win over Khalid Graidia at Wembley Arena in February. Videos showcasing his lightning-quick reactions and showboating antics garnered millions of views and followers on Instagram, leading to newfound fame for the boxer.

 

Despite facing criticism for his fighting style, Whittaker remains unapologetic, emphasizing that his showboating is simply a form of self-expression. His viral moment also brought wider recognition, with people recognizing him on the streets during a trip to America, which he found humbling.

 

After taking silver for Team GB at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Whittaker transitioned to professional boxing, winning all seven of his fights, mostly in the UK. However, his recent viral video attracted a new audience, particularly from Brazil and the United States, surprising the boxer who had mainly fought in the UK.

 

Whittaker's next challenge comes on the undercard of Chris Billam-Smith's world title defence at Selhurst Park in London, where he will face Ezra Arenyeka for the WBA gold light-heavyweight title. With a belt on the line, Whittaker aims to make an example of Arenyeka and continue his rise in the boxing world.
