20 pugilists set for "Chaos in Lagos" boxing tournament

Posted : 03 April 2025

Twenty high-caliber pugilists will take center stage at the forthcoming “Chaos in Lagos” boxing championship, scheduled for April 27.

Bernard Otunola, the Chief Executive Officer of Unboxx Boxing Promotions, the event’s organizer, expressed confidence that the championship would showcase the best boxers in Nigeria.

Otunola stated that this confidence stemmed from his outfit's unrivaled position in Nigerian boxing entertainment.

According to him, fans would be thrilled, and the upcoming event promises to be explosive.

“We are coming with another bang for the delight of boxing fans.

“As we have always delivered, this year’s edition will be nothing short of quality and professionalism,” Otunola said.

He highlighted the main fight of the night as the one involving Chinedu Dike Okeke against the hard-hitting Jimoh Wasiu.

“Both boxers, boasting phenomenal records in the middleweight division, are no pushovers.

“It will be a battle of two warriors, one ring, and no excuses,” Otunola added.

“The event is more than just a fight; it is a display of finesse, power, speed, and pure boxing excellence.

“As always, fans will be treated to an unforgettable experience, with the other nine bouts delivering thrilling action,” Otunola assured.

The boxing event will take place at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.

Ticket prices are set as follows: Regular — ₦3,000, VIP — ₦10,000, and ringside — ₦150,000 and ₦300,000, respectively.

Nigerian boxers dominated the inaugural tournament in Lagos in February.

The country’s boxers stunned the competition at the inaugural World Boxing Council (WBC) - Africa Boxing Union (ABU) amateur championship in Lagos, winning 10 of 11 bouts.

The tournament, which was held from February 6 to February 8, saw 42 boxers from eight African countries competing.

Nigeria’s boxers dominated across all weight categories, securing impressive victories.

The forthcoming “Chaos in Lagos” boxing championship, therefore, promises to be explosive and will keep fans on their toes.
