Zenith/NBBF Final 8 Championships: MFM beat Royal Aces, qualify for finals

Mountain of Fire (MFM) Basketball Club of Lagos has defeated Royal Aces of Abuja, 73-52, to qualify for the final of the 2024 Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball Final 8.


The victory also gives MFM another opportunity to defend the title they won in the last edition.


MFM wasted no time in showing their capability, confidently winning the first quarter 25-15.


However, this prompted Royal Aces to come out of their shells as they rose to the challenge, redirecting the ball play and working hard to take the second quarter 15-10.


But a resolute MFM soon recognized their defensive errors and shook off the Royal Aces challenge, reclaiming the third quarter 23-12 and finishing strong in the final quarter with a score of 14-11.


Their effective ball rotation, 90 percent success from three-point range, and strong teamwork were pivotal to their victory.


MFM will now play Nigeria Customs of Abuja, who eliminated tournament favorites First Bank of Lagos, 57-51, in a keenly contested match.
