Johnson Oluwaseyi, the president of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation, said that his administration would continue to organize more competitions to keep players fit for international competitions.
Oluwaseyi, who stated this in an interview, noted that the Federation was determined to revive the game in the country.
According to the president, the sport has been stagnant for six years without competitions.
“I became president in 2023, and we resolved that despite the challenges, we will do our best to organize competitions.
“The Betking Wheelchair Basketball League is one of the products of our commitment.
“We have another competition in August, which is tagged the ‘Presidential Cup’ in Edo.
“We will organize more competitions in 2025 to recover from the stagnant years,” he said.
The president said the Federation would continue to work to make the Nigerian team the best in Africa.
“Our national team participated in the Africa qualifiers a few days after I became president in 2023, and they qualified for Paris.
“We decided to organize the Presidential Cup in August, the same time as the Paralympics, so that they will be busy with our local competition,” he said.
The Betking Wheelchair Basketball League fantastic final four, which started on Monday, ended on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
