US Monastir And REG Keeps Nigeria's Kwara Falcons Under 50 Points

The Sahara Conference of the Basketball Africa League proceeded on Sunday as expected, with no surprises, as US Monastir, the incumbent champion, easily defeated newbies Stade Malien and REG held the Kwara Falcons of Nigeria to under 50 points.
Thanks to Jerome Randle's 18 points, a team high, Monastir defeated the Mali team 78-68 without putting up much of a fight. However, Souleymane Berthe, who scored 34 of his team's points, took home the game high.
John Wilkins, a Moroccan player who attended Illinois State, remarked that facing Monastir for their BAL debut was a difficult task: "The difference was experience. I think they were more experienced than us, but we don't need to be ashamed of our performance. We have a young, hungry team, and I think for the next games, we will take this game as a lesson and be more confident in ourselves and try to be better."
