Tyrese Maxey's career-high 51 points propel 76ers to victory, ending losing streak

In a stunning display, Tyrese Maxey propelled the Philadelphia 76ers to a 127-124 victory over the Utah Jazz, snapping a four-game losing streak. Maxey, recently announced as an NBA All-Star reserve, showcased his prowess with a career-high 51 points, stepping up for the 76ers who were without Joel Embiid due to a left knee injury suffered in their recent defeat by the Golden State Warriors. Tobias Harris contributed 28 points, and Kelly Oubre Jr added 16 to secure the much-needed win.

 

Lauri Markkanen's 28-point effort for the Jazz wasn't enough to prevent a third consecutive defeat, as the 76ers, led by Maxey, seized control in the closing stages. Despite Utah holding a 120-117 lead, they couldn't withstand the late surge from Philadelphia, marking their sixth loss in the past eight games.

Joel Embiid's absence, following a lateral meniscus injury, didn't hinder Maxey's stellar performance, as the 23-year-old guard made 17 of 27 field goals, including seven three-pointers, and displayed clutch free-throw shooting.

 

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers secured a 114-105 victory over the Boston Celtics, with Austin Reaves delivering a season-high 32 points. Donovan Mitchell's 25-point performance propelled the Cleveland Cavaliers to their fourth consecutive win, overcoming the Memphis Grizzlies 108-101.

 

In another thrilling matchup, Jalen Brunson, named an Eastern Conference All-Star, played a pivotal role with 40 points, leading the New York Knicks to a 109-105 victory over the Indiana Pacers and extending their winning streak to nine games.
