The Minnesota Timberwolves bounced back in their NBA Western Conference semi-final series, securing a dominant 117-93 win over the Golden State Warriors to level the series 1-1. Julius Randle led the way with 24 points and 11 assists, while Anthony Edwards contributed 20 points and nine rebounds.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 20 points off the bench, giving the Timberwolves a well-rounded effort. Edwards highlighted the team’s focus on improving their defense after reviewing footage from their Game 1 loss.
Minnesota set the tone early, jumping to a 25-7 lead, though the Warriors fought back to trim the deficit to 62-55 in the third quarter. Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was pleased with his team's response, praising their strong start and overall consistency.
"We looked a lot more like ourselves," Finch said, acknowledging that despite a shaky second-half start, the team delivered the performance they needed to bounce back in the series.
The Warriors, missing Stephen Curry due to a left hamstring injury sustained in Game 1, were led by Jonathan Kuminga with 18 points and Jimmy Butler III, who scored 17.
While the Timberwolves had their own injury scare when Edwards limped off with a left ankle issue, he returned to start the second half and played a crucial role in their win. Curry, expected to miss at least a week, left the Warriors without their star playmaker, which proved to be a significant blow.
