The newly elected president of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Oluwaseyi Johnson, has promised to give a new lease of life to the sport. Johnson also promised to take the sport to greater heights and revive the level of competitiveness among players.
ASN reports that Johnson was recently elected as the substantive president of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation. He replaced his boss, Bukola Olopade, and said new innovations would be introduced in the game of wheelchair basketball.
"It is not going to be business as usual; people should watch out for the federation in the next couple of years."
"I have been part of the Wheelchair Federation for years, when my mentor and boss was the president. I was working closely with athletes and coaches.
"Taking the mantle of leadership is not new because I am going to complement the innovation set in place by Honourable Bukola Olopade." He said,
"I will work closely with my board members to bring back the sports to the standard obtained previously."
"My first task is to qualify for the 2023 African Games in Ghana and shift total attention to qualifying for the Olympics by 2028. "Watch out for wheelchair basketball in the next six months; we are taking the game to greater heights," he concluded.
