The basketball warriors from Lagos have one mission in mind: to secure the sole ticket to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) from Nigeria.
Hoops N’ Read, the best-equipped club, arrived at the venue with a team of 4 coaches and 15 players. Head Coach Victor Mensah named his squad, which is made up of basketball enthusiasts from across the country.
Captain Tolani Buhari will lead the charge against Kano Pillars in Group A, with Tony Montana anchoring the team’s defense.
Sharp shooter Owen Owo from Edo State is in top form ahead of the big battle, with fellow shooters Nduba Prince Obiora and Ginika Ofeugbu also sharpening their skills.
Noble point guard Ahmed Olusoji, Bolaji Emilagba, and the agile Ademola Kareem will join Captain Buhari in the offensive frontline.
The core of the team’s formation, the center, is led by Clinton Best, with Shevee Cisko, Austin Akpejiori, and Christian Ekene as his loyal allies.
The Final 8 is divided into two groups of 4 teams each, from the Atlantic and Savannah Conferences.
Group A of the Final 8 includes Hoops N’ Read, Gboko City Chiefs, Kano Pillars, and Police Baton, while Group B consists of Rivers Hoopers, Nile University, Kwara Falcons, and Gombe Bulls.
On Match Day 2, Hoops N’ Read will face Police Baton for the second time, following their 77-52 win in the Atlantic Conference.
For the final group game, Hoops N’ Read will go head-to-head with Gboko City Chiefs, the winners of the Savannah Conference, to determine who will lead the group into the semifinals.
Coach Victor Mensah is confident of a successful outing in Port Harcourt, with his star-studded team poised for victory.
